III CELIN Talks: Demystifying the Party Culture in U.S. Universities and Colleges

Ivan's Talk will discuss the higher education in the United States is very diverse, ranging from public to private universities, two-year to four-year, and for-profit to not. Despite their differences, many types of institutions are often labeled as “party schools”. Movies such as American Pie, Neighbors, Spring Breakers, and The House Bunny misconstrue and misrepresent the party culture at US colleges and universities. This workshop will deconstruct these misconceptions and discuss the way in which sports, Greek life, and access to alcohol influence the party culture at colleges and universities in the United States.
